	Personal Profile, Exhibitions, Commissions and CV Personal profile Shimmerfire is Susan Graves, residing in Nottingham, England. I have pleasure in presenting my Personal Profile, Exhibition History and CV. I am deligted to hear from anyone interested in showing my art, commissioning a work, or engaging me in any of the services offered on this website such as workshops, or website design - please email me at susan.graves@shimmerfire.co.uk I am a Digital Artist and Designer with a wide repertoire of graphic skills in the abstract / surrealistic style, and I offer artworks for sale, both in my web based Shop, via retailer resellers, exhibitions and individual commissions. My skills span graphic design and the use of the computer as a digital laboratory. I have an extensive library of images available, and I undertake commissions to customer’s exact print/web-ready specification, including colour-scheme matching if required. Exhibition History Shimmerfire submits regularly to exhibitions, and is particularly keen on supporting the East Midlands Region of England artistic community, and Nottingham, my home town in particular - the acknowledged cultural hub of the East Midlands. Nottingham is renowned worldwide for it's historic fashion industry and is home to Nottingham Trent University, which offers respected study in fashion and the arts. The city is also the centre of a thriving and growing nightlife, and the shopping is equal to London and Manchester! Owing to logistics, my exhibition submissions are generally restricted to English shows. However, I do show on numerous international web-based virtual galleries and shows. I am very good at detecting confidence tricksters and other disreputable opportunists - so unless you are sincere, please do not waste your time contacting me. Broadway Cinema, Nottingham - Arts Market 14 Sep 2003 This annual event at the Broadway, offers fine art pieces at affordable prices in a no-fuss environment. I sold serveral pieces and took orders for commissions for work now in private collections around Nottingham. Broadway Cinema, Nottingham - Movie Projection into Restaurant date to be announced The Broadway, sited in the centre of the city, is Nottingham's alternative cinema and one of the Region's main new-media art venues. Nottingham Castle Museum: Annual Open Art Exhibition 2001 10 Nov - 28 Nov 2001 Nottingham Castle Museum: Annual Open Art Exhibition 2002 10 Nov - 28 Nov 2002 Both Nottingham Castle Exhibition selections were chosen by the Nottingham Castle Museum curators from a substantial body of work submitted by Nottingham artists. This high profile annual exhibition is a valued and respected showcase for local and Regional artists. Alley Cafe Bar, Nottingham : Solo show - The Fractal Project 3 Jan - 15 Feb 2002 The Alley Cafe is a cosy, mellow bar in the centre of Nottingham, offering wallspace to emerging and established artists. I was delighted to exhibit at this venue, my first solo show! Turtle Arts Basement Gallery, Nottingham: Imperfect Future 22 Mar - 9 Apr 2002 Turtle Arts (now defunct and reincarnated as the Surface Gallery) was a loose collective of artists who rented a basement in the centre of Nottingham, periodically showing challenging, eclectic work from the diverse community and academic local arts community. Turtle Arts Basement Gallery, Nottingham: Fascination 10 Sep - 28 Sep 2001 This show collected works by pioneering and challenging Nottingham artists. Stantonbury Gallery, Milton Keynes: Milton Keynes Digital Art Exhibition 29 Sep - 11 Oct 2003 A high profile show of digitally generated / manipulated images. I was asked to show by Alan King, proprietor of Milton Keynes Digital Artists website run by Alan King. South Hill Park, Berkshire: Movie projection into Atrium Restaurant 13 Oct - 26 Oct 2003 My art shown, projected to large scale in this long establish respected arts centre. Arts Pool: Impact May 12th 2003 This showcase event for emerging and established artsts, selected to share ideas with programmers, organisers and arts development officers who work in Nottinghamshire. Neo Arts Gallery (now defunct), Nottingham Resident Artist 2001 - 2002 This chic, gallery in a marvelously restored Victorian Neo Gothic folly in the heart of Nottingham's Lace Market area offered my work during it's brief life as a high street venture. I remain close to the proprietors who continue in their picture framing business. Will's Art Warehouse, London Resident Artist 2002 Big modern gallery which showed some 20 of my images for a year or so. Echo Boutique, Nottingham Resident Artist 2002 to date I sell my clothing and textiles designs through this quirky, individualistic boutique in the centre of Nottingham.
